Life as a Progress consultant by
Steven Extra

I have been working in the pharmaceutical industry for over 25 years. In the course of my career I have been involved in all aspects of testing and manufacturing of drug products. A year ago, I had the opportunity to consider a new career move.

Since a former colleague of mine already worked at Progress I decided to contact her and ask all the things I wanted to know about the role of consultant. During my work I had come across many consultants but never thought about becoming one myself.  My colleague’s enthusiasm about working as a consultant at Progress convinced me to contact the company for a so called ’koffie gesprek’, an informal meeting to get to know each other. After this I felt confident that this would be the right next step in my career.

After the initial introduction trainings I was presented with different assignment options. I went to a client to work in a team handling deviations, something I was already familiar with. To me this felt very comfortable since the group was being led by my new Progress colleague Sonja and consisted of consultants from Progress and several other agencies. This gave me the opportunity to grow in the role of consultant.

Now eight months later, my first assignment is finished, and it is time to start a new one. I look forward to meeting new people and experiencing new things. In these past eight months I have really come to know Progress and its people. To me it feels like a large family without becoming oppressive. Everybody is very open and friendly and I felt right at home from the start. Progress really cares about their personnel and shows that in ways I had never seen before.

All I can say is that if you are in doubt whether consultancy is right for you, just contact Progress for a ’koffie gesprek’. What have you got to lose?
